Update is Coming - Here's What's Happening

Short story... My best friend in the world woken up with screams with excruciating headache. Paramedics come. She's taken to the ER and given IV and pain meds and sent back home. She goes back to the ER twice more where they don't perform a CT scan or MRI. Finally she goes to a different hospital and they perform a CT scan discovering a large bleeding in her brain caused by a brain aneurysm. She is told she needs a brain surgery and I was called to the hospital where I remained with her until I got home early this morning.

It was detected 4 days after it occurred. The surgeons didn't give her a lot of chance because the rupture was large. They had performed two surgeries: one less invasive but it wasn't successful which they had to stop after two hours. She was then taken into the invasive surgery where they drilled her skull in two places. We weren't given a lot of hope but she fought through it. She'll be in the ICU about 19 more days.

I've been too distraught to write, but aptly, it is the hospital scene I was writing, and here I was in a hospital with my best friend with the prospect to lose her. So, I came home and poured all of that into the next chapter. I've not finished yet, but I should be done by the weekend.

This was as far as I was allowed to go with her with her earlier words haunting me: "Do you think I'll make through this?" "You better" I said, "I ran out of organic yogurt and you're the only one who knows how to make it the way I like it."

 I sat by her ICU window trying to type on my tablet looking at the city of Phoenix skyline.
